After years of half-hearted attempts, I passed the telc German A2 and Zurich KDE exams. Here is what worked for me, from Herr Professor and Easy German to AI speaking practice.
Sunday, July 26, 2026One more dive into history with the 2009 edition of The Rough Guide to the Internet. I explore how much - and how little - the web has changed since the era of MySpace, the iPhone 3G, iGoogle, and the rise of broadband.

Monday, June 2, 2025The Isle of Arran is the Scottish island I have visited most often. This time we stayed in Whiting Bay. I enjoyed a hike up Arran’s highest point - Goatfell, lots of good food and even took an Alpaca for a walk.
Saturday, June 29, 2024Using Zapier’s free plan I attempt to automatically trigger the Github action workflow which publishes this website, whenever I add a new Out of Ten review to my Notion database.
Saturday, March 2, 2024My second trip report to Edinburgh - this time it was for the mini zookeeper experience at Edinburgh Zoo, a visit to Edinburgh Castle and the adjacent Camera Obscura. Edinburgh really loses none of its appeal over time and is a must visit.

Wednesday, May 3, 2023A very good sequel and some very funny moments with Jack-Jack. I will definitely watch Incredibles 3 when it comes out in a couple of year‘s time.
An excellent season that neatly wraps up the story and transitions seamlessly to Rogue One. This is the only Star Wars TV series I have watched and it never disappointed.
The acting is very good, especially Max Cady by Javier Bardem. But 10 episodes is 5-6 too many, meaning the series loses its tension and believability because it‘s so stretched out.

Excellent couple of desserts at L’O, Horgen - nothing to choose between the chocolate mousse and passion fruit cheesecake. I don’t appreciate them not offering tap water though.

My first time at Monster Jam, which took place at Zurich’s Hallenstadion. The format consists of four events, with the audience judging the drivers through a web app. Just after the interval, there was also a motorbike event featuring plenty of airtime.
It was thoroughly entertaining, and the time flew by. Grave Digger was the overall winner, but Sparkle Smash provided the best visual moment of the day when it showered the arena with confetti.
Complimentary earplugs were provided, and the fumes weren’t particularly noticeable despite the event taking place indoors. I’m not sure whether another show would feel too similar, but it was definitely worth experiencing at least once.
